Digital Spy recently chatted to Tamara Wall, who plays Grace, to hear more about what's in store for the villainous graphic symbol.
How's information technology all going for y'all and then far at Hollyoaks?
"It's amazing. To be honest, I'yard yet pinching myself that I'm hither. It feels like a fleck of a dream! It'south really busy here so information technology tin can be mad sometimes, but I'm admittedly loving it and everyone here is then squeamish. I've been welcomed with open up arms.
"I was petrified on my first mean solar day - I've never been more than nervous in all my life, but everyone on fix made it really piece of cake."
How practice you feel about playing a bad girl?
"Information technology's all new to me. Commonly I play ditzy blondes! In real life, I'm rubbish at confrontation, so for me information technology's a scrap like therapy. When they told me Grace was a fleck of a bad girl, I was delighted to have something to get my teeth into. I retrieve information technology's definitely better to be bad than boring!"
What was the audition procedure like for the function?
"Information technology was quite a quick procedure - but a couple of weeks. I had three auditions and information technology was quite terrifying! I came up to Liverpool, received the script and went through it the nighttime before - inside out and back to front, because I was then nervous and wanted to get everything right.
"We did the audition on set, and then that was the first time I'd walked onto the set, but it went well. I did some scenes with Greg Forest and Jesse Birdsall, who play Trevor and Fraser, and they were amazing."
How practice y'all depict Grace to people?
"I'd say Grace is pretty rock difficult. She'southward a scrap damaged from her childhood. Her sister Clare was always the apple of her dad'due south middle, while Grace was left to her own devices a bit because she was the potent ane and quite tomboy-ish.
"Grace now spends her whole life putting on a forepart that y'all don't always mess with her. But backside closed doors, she secretly wants to be quite girly - although she'd never, ever testify that!"
Will those complexities start coming out on screen more?
"Yeah, you're going to see a bit more than of her vulnerable side and a bit more of a lighter side to her. I call up you lot'll come across that she is actually human and she does have a heart - it's just a question of where she's going to put it!"
Would you say Grace enjoys being office of the criminal earth?
"She definitely enjoys it. A lot of it was her desperately trying to prove to Fraser that she could handle herself in a man's world, just she'south loving every minute of it. Grace enjoys the power - she loves having power over people. She uses that to her advantage a lot."
Should Mercedes, Lindsey and Cindy exist worried about what Grace has in shop for them as she continues to delve into the Browning secret?
"Probably Mercedes should exist worried the nearly! Grace doesn't similar Mercedes at all. I don't think Grace has really shown yet how bad she tin can be and how dark she can be. She is really heartless with other people and doesn't sympathise with them at all - specially women."
Were Grace and Clare close at all?
"I've always thought that they really didn't get forth at all, simply then when Clare died, that was actually Grace'south time to remember, 'Really, she was my sister, I did dear her and I'one thousand gutted that I didn't get to tell her that'. That's why Grace felt that she had to come up back to take some kind of revenge for her sister."
How would you describe Grace and Trevor'southward relationship? They seem to be getting closer…
"Grace and Trevor grew up together with Fraser. Trevor had a thing with her sister and got her pregnant, so in that location'south a big backstory there. There's a lot more to come out about exactly how Grace feels almost Trevor, and it will all go articulate whether it's a jealousy thing or whether she's in love with him."
Most of your scenes take been with Jesse and Greg. What accept they been similar to work with?
"Astonishing! They're such incredible actors. I lucked out on the fact that I've been able to walk into Hollyoaks, exist partnered upward with them and accept all of my start scenes with them. They're consummate professionals but fun to work with, too - we accept a laugh."
With Grace get involved with Sandy and the Roscoes a bit more?
"Grace isn't all that impressed with the fact that her dad is messing around with a 'normal' woman. She's desperately worried that if he falls in dearest with her as well much, he'll tell her everything and the whole truth will come out. If that happened, the whole Black family would become down. Grace is constantly on her toes the whole fourth dimension, making certain that he doesn't slip up!"
Taking on the role, were you aware of what a big graphic symbol Clare had been?
"I was, as I'd watched the show myself. It was daunting because so many people take loved her graphic symbol as the ultimate villain and the ultimate bitch. It's hard shoes to fill, but I think Grace is a little chip different and maybe a fleck more clever. She'south definitely way more two-faced and sly!"
Were yous sad not to get any scenes with Gemma Bissix, who played Clare?
"Yeah! The sad affair was that nosotros didn't meet each other at all, because she'd finished filming before I came in. Simply she came back one day and I bumped into her in the dark-green room. It was lovely to meet her and information technology turns out she literally lives down the road from me dorsum at home. What are the chances?!"
Who else have you fabricated friends with?
"Everyone! It sounds so clichéd to say, only information technology's really similar a big family. Information technology's like nothing I've ever worked on earlier. You can walk into the green room and conversation with anyone. I expected people to perchance be a scrap funny towards a new person, just they're all so happy to accept you here and they get out of their way to make you feel welcome."
Are you hoping Grace can be a long-stay character or does she have a shelf life?
"I'm hoping that she's here for a long time. I recall she'southward a strong enough grapheme to hold her own for a while."
You lot were previously on EastEnders as Martina in 2011. Was that likewise a good feel, even though it was only cursory?

"Now I'm used to doing 'real people hours'. Every bit my husband says when he'due south laughing at me, 'Welcome to the existent earth!'
